Sting warmed up the crowd at the Planai Stadium...

Part two of the three-day ski opening in the Schladming-Dachstein region was also a success. After a largely rocking evening with Bryan Adams, British superstar Sting took over the musical direction at the Planai Stadium. In wintry temperatures, he provided significantly warmer sounds, but also created a fantastic atmosphere among the approximately 9,500 spectators.

Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner is currently touring the world with his "Sting 3.0" tour. In between, the 71-year-old musician presented a "special show" in Schladming. Together with Dominic Miller on guitar and drummer Chris Maas, who has also played for bands like Mumford & Sons, Sting delved into his wide range of songs.

The absolute highlights for the many die-hard fans were, of course, all-time hits like “Englishman in New York,” “Every Breath You Take,” “Message in a Bottle,” and “Walking on the Moon.” “Roxanne” and “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” also created a sing-along atmosphere. A somewhat contemplative and relaxed atmosphere arose with the softer sounds of “Desert Rose.” The fans in the Planai Stadium were thrilled by the versatility of the Englishman, who was joined by Austrian artists Anna-Sophie and Alexander Eder as support acts.

"Compared to previous years, it is clearly evident that the three concerts are leading to longer stays in the region, and the typical ski opening visitor is no longer a day visitor," reports the Schladming-Dachstein Tourist Board. Concertgoers often stay in the region for up to three nights, attending several concerts at once. "This is an important factor for the entire region, as exceptionally high added value is generated right at the start of the season. The approximately eleven million euros in demand generated last year with Robbie Williams could well be surpassed this year," it continues.
